Future fbs expansion

College football fans are likely to wake up to an entirely new world in the coming decade, perhaps with or without current conferences, as TV rights begin to expire in 2023. The only thing more popular than conference realignment is playoff expansion, and the next step is an eight-team playoff. That could be bypassed with a super conference model. You'd get four conference championship games that could serve as a de facto quarterfinal round. That would be awesome, too.

In turn, our national focus will narrow almost entirely to teams perceived as playoff contenders, which, if we’re being honest, comprise fewer than half of the 65 Power 5 schools, and certainly none of the other 63 FBS schools. UT Chattanooga could possibly move up to the Sun (Fun) Belt. That'd give them 12 teams and i think the state of Tennessee can handle 5 FBS Schools.
